Okay, so you're not saving as a previous version -- that was what I thought
might be happening. Thanks for providing more detailed info, it helped.
This is pretty vague --
it and it began to run, it just wasn't how it was before the save.
Without knowing how it's different, I'll just venture a guess that your
carefully timed and synchronized transitions are no longer timed and
synchronized. If that's the case, well, that's to be expected: timing is
most definitely not PPT's strong suit, even in PPT 2003. You can see
http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/synchronizing.htm for some
suggestions.
If your presentation doesn't need actual animations on the slides and relies
more on a background track transitions, then I'd suggest using Windows Movie
Maker or Photo Story or something like that to create a movie file of the
presentation. You'll be able to do better transition timings with those
programs.
Windows Movie Maker is part of Windows XP SP-2.

Photo Story
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/photostory/default.mspx
Both are free downloads.
If it's not the synch issue, then you'll have to come back with more info on
how the post-save PPS file runs differently than the pre-save PPT file.

Hi Echo S
Thanks for responding to my post.
Right ... I realised once I'd posted the message that I should've put the
version etc.
I'm working with PP 2003 ... OK ... I have been sorting out all the content,
embedding an mp3, making sure I had all the transitions working just fine ....
and then checking it in slideshow view once I had it as I wanted it. It
worked perfectly.
Then ... I pulled down the File menu; selected Save As; When the dialogue
box appeared I browsed to where I wanted it saved to; in the File Type
window I scrolled down till I found PP Show and selected it. Then I clicked
OK/Save. It saved to the correct destination, but when I double-clicked on
it and it began to run, it just wasn't how it was before the save.
Do you have any ideas??
I think I answered all your questions ... oh, I actually closed the
PowerPoint programme before I double-clicked the show.
Thanks again.

Tell me exactly what you're doing when you "save as PP show." Step-by-step,
please, and because I'm not sitting behind you staring over your shoulder,
you'll have to tell me every little thing you do.
Also, which version of PPT are you using to create the presentation? Are you
then viewing the presentation on the same version of PPT? You can check the
version of PPT by going to Help/About.

I can't understand why the slide presentation runs just how I want it ....
looks perfect, times are fine and all the transitions and effects are
fine.
Yet when I save as a PP show hardly any of the effects work.
What is going wrong??? I'm just about at the end of my tether with the
darn
thing!!
