why does update fields change the page margins in Word 2007?

I do ctrl-A to select the entire document and then right click the mouse to
get "update field". This to update references to figures, table of contents
and index.

AND THEN THE NEW PAGE MARGINS I HAVE SET ARE CHANGED TO THE MARGINS I USED
WHEN I STARTED WORKING ON THE DOCUMENT. It does not matter what I do,
changing the size of the document going to landscape, restarting words,
selecting a preset margins setup or setting new customer margins, selecting
to set for whole document, setting for each section, setting for rest of
document etc etc etc etc.

The new margins are forgotten and I get my old margins back when I do update
field.

VERY STRANGE AND FRUSTRATING.

Why does update fields change the margins????I can see NO relation between
update fields and the page margins!!!

Could this be bug?

What kind of fields are you using? Note that INCLUDETEXT fields, for
example, might bring in section formatting. See
