Why does word continually "encounter a problem and need to close".

A few days ago, I was using Microsoft Office Word 2003, and a dialog box
saying "Microsoft Office Word has encountered a problem and needs to close.
We are sorry for the inconvenience." It gave me the option to send an error
report (I assume someone is familiar with what I am referring to. After
repeated attempts to use Word, I gave up because it would constantly
"encounter a problem and need to close". Like I said before, this has never
happened until a few days ago. Any help is appreciated

Thanks, that fixed it. I guess my default printer was no longer on my network.
