Why does Word display wrong images in .mht files?

I'm building web pages with Word 2003, in the form of .mht files. I insert
..jpg images from Picture Manager. The web page is fine at first. But after
adding more images to Picture Manager, and/or possibly re-editing the .mht
file, the wrong images sometimes show, which were originally elsewhere on the
page. The "wrong" image displays with incorrect brightness & contrast, but
usually still displays correctly at its other location on the page. Clue: I
usually alter brightness and contrast during the insertion from Picture
Manager.
This is probably from having Word and Picture Manager both remain open
during multiple updates of multiple files..

No offense, but it is more likely (or at least equally) because you are
trying to create *graphic display* pages with a program designed primarily
for *printed text* pages.

If you can't afford to acquire a web design package - even MS FrontPage @
<>$150 - you will have better success using MS Publisher or MS PowerPoint
for the job. You might even be surprised at the number of other low-cost
options if you Google for them.
