Why does Word keep closing automatically?

Everytime I'm working in Word and switch to another window/program when I
come back to Word it automatically closes on me. When I start it up again it
has recovered my files, but it does get to be rather irritating to have it
close on me. I'm using WinXP.

Are you switching programs or Windows by selecting from the Taskbar icon?
This may be the Handwriting Recognition bug. Go to the Control Panel,
Add/Remove programs and select Microsoft Office, Change. Under Advanced
options, Word, Office Shared Features, you will find Alternative Inputs.
Click the little Arrow and select Not Available and then OK. Setup will run
and remove the component. Test. That will have cleared the corruption. You
can re-install the feature again now and it will be OK.
