Why does XP keep putting an Office10 directory on my Firewire drive?

Something very odd is going on. I installed a new Firewire drive
straight out of the box (so it was empty when first installed), I've
been using it for storing video editing files, and I noticed yesterday
that theres an 'Office10' directory on the disk.

I deleted it, emptied the recycle bin, rebooted and the damn directory
is back again. It contains:

MSOSTYLE.DLL
SAEXT.DLL
SEQCHK10.DLL
UCSCRIBE.DLL
THDIC.LEX
TRIGRAM.LEX

SAEXT.DLL claims to be 'Office 2000 SouthAsia Extensions', and
UCSCRIBE.DLL claims to be 'Unicode complex script support', the others
don't say much.

What makes it particularly strange is... I don't have Office installed.
At all. Though for some reason there's a C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office10 directory which contains the same files (MD5 checksums
match) and a couple of others.

It could be some kind of scumware trying to hide its files, but I have
the Microsoft anti-spyware program, spybot and ad-aware installed, and
none of them have complained.

Anyone have any ideas what would be dumping these files on the Firewire
drive? A google search found a message here from 2004 asking the same
question, but no response.
