Why doesn't my slide layout toolbar work anymorein powerpoint 200.

My powerpoint has been working fine for 2 years but all of a sudden the
toolbar for slide layout, slide design on the right hand side of the screen
is unable to show the pictures of the side templates available. There are
just white spaces which can be shown to be boxes when you drag your cursor
over them. Has anyone any experience of fixing this. I've done the usual
and confirmed that there are no viruses etc and have not removed any programs
from the computer.

You know, we keep hearing reports of this kind of thing, but I don't think
we've nailed down the problem yet.

Can you try some basic troubleshooting steps and report back, please?

1. Try changing hardware acceleration as described at
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00129.htm Do any of the settings make
your thumbnails come back?

2. Update your video drivers

3. Empty your temporary internet files folder

4. Search for and delete all *.TMP files on your hard drive

5. Run a defrag

6. Make sure PPT is closed and search for all *.PPA files (these are PPT
add-ins) and rename them to *.PPO Do the thumbnails come back then?
