why doesn't "publisher" update with the rest of "office" update?

I've installed a new version of Microsoft Office, but Publisher still comes
up as the '97 version. Shouldn't it have been upgraded to a more recent
version as well?

Office 2003? Did the new version of MS Office actually contain Publisher?
The standard edition and Student and Teacher edition do not have Publisher.

Yup, it's in XP Small Business software bundle I have... and when I tried to
reinstall again just now (for the third time!), everything went fine,
including Publisher update. Thabnks for your reply!!
