Why doesn't Send/Receive dialog show anymore when I execute?

When I originally set up Outlook 2007, it used to work - that is, when I
clicked "Send/Receive" I would see the progress dialog.
I wonder if some MS update "fixed" it so the dialog box doesn't show up
automatically any more when I click on "Send/Receive" like it used to.
Or..... Have I changed something accidentally?
