Why don't edits in the PowerPoint 2003 Script Editor save?

I want to have links in a PowerPoint 2003 Web presentation to open to a new
window. After I save the presentation as a Web page, I open the Script
Editor and change the target of the link from _parent to _blank, but when I
save, _blank reverts to _parent. I also changed the schema to HTML 4.0, but
the edits don't save. What can I do to make the edits in the PowerPoint 2003
Script Editor save?
