why don't my windows just stay the way they are?

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Intel

hi, i just installed office 2008 and the problem i am having at the moment has to do with word. if i have two word documents open plus another window with say safari, and i minimize that third window (safari) just to get it out of the way, the second word document changes size and jumps to the other monitor. why? all i did was minimize window #3, i didn't touch window #2, why is it doing anything at all?
i'd appreciate any suggestions. this is nerve-wracking!

Sorry I can't help, but I'd like to say that I'm having this issue as well (the reason I'm visiting the forums this morning) and its become so annoying I purchased iWork just to find out that Pages does not have some of the features I need <sigh>.

If anyone has a comment that might end or at least tell us why this happening I would be overjoyed.
