Why dosent total hrs & breakup of recurring task match in Project?

I have set recurring task as 3 Hrs every workday (Mon - Fri) for 3 months. I
have also set work timings as 8.5 hrs per day. Now in the breakup of the
recurring task I can see 3hrs per day but in the total duration Project
calculates Workdays X 8.5 hrs (thus ignoring the 3hrs that have been given)

Hi,

What you are seeing is duration (the difference between Start and Finish).
If you assign (a) resource(s) to the individual tasks, you can show a column
callend Work; that one will total up as you expect.
