Why email pictures become letters and numbers?

When I send an email to someone else with a picture attached, they receive
only letters and numbers gibberish. What's going on?

The "gibberish" is your picture. WHat may be going on is the format you're
using to send the message. Make sure you are sending Plain Text or HTML
messages.
