Why has my category list been deleted andreplaced by 700 useless categories?

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel With the update to Entourage EWS, ALL MY ACTIVELY USED CATEGORIES (about 8 of them) HAVE BEEN REMOVED and replaced with nearly 700 (yes - SEVEN HUNDRED) f*£$^ing useless categories.

I want to remove these and return to the list that I had carefully chosen to use, but I cannot find a way to do this as a batch.

Do they seriously expect me to delete each of the 700 individual categories manually? It requires 3 key strokes (select, delete confirm) for each one - that's a total of 2100 keystrokes to clean up THEIR MESS.

In addition, all my carefully categorised calendar entries over the past 3 years will have lost their colour coding, so I can no longer review past calendars for related events.

I AM SO ANGRY AT THE TIME AND EFFORT WHICH HAS BEEN WASTED, AND THE FURTHER TIME AND EFFORT I WILL HAVE TO EXPEND TO PUT IT RIGHT.

This is the first report on this newsgroup of this happening. I¹m assuming
you have an Exchange account or you wouldn¹t have updated to the EWS
version. Create a new Identity and let Entourage sync back to your Exchange
account. You should get just the default categories.

If you still had a way to launch Entourage v12, you could open categories
and get the colors using RGB.

If you have mail etc in folders "On My Computer" you'll have to use Export
as .rge to get that data for import into your new Identity.

I'll be sure this gets reported.
