Why has Word 2000 spell checker quit working?

I've checked that I have all the options checked off in Word but it still
doesn't spell check. I get the message "Text marked 'do not checked spelling
or grammar' was skipped".

'do not check spelling or grammar' is a type of formatting.
Select all (Ctrl-A) and then Tools > Language.
Uncheck "Do not check."

Thank you - this worked when the other suggestions did not!
It had become SO frustrating when HELP did not help, and I was one of only
two people in the office with this problem.

Why did Spell Check quit working on my Office Small Business 2007?
I have tried to re-check the boxes it ask to add spell check- Yet it just
quit after having this for already Aug of 2009. Suddenly I can't get it to
spell check nor grammar nor any other selections. Any recomendations ?
Can't seem to get an answer from MS either doesn't anyone answer the phone.
