Why I get "Internet Explorer Script Error" if I click Personal Fol

I have installed Microsoft Office Professional 2007 recently. I used the
Outlook for managing my emails and daily task. For a while, it was perfectly
normal. However for some reasons, which I am not sure of, it gave some
problems of late.

When I click the "Personal Folder", it pop up a window "Internet Explorer
Script Error".

Can anyone help?

Try resetting IE's security zones to their default levels.

Thanks for the advice. I did that. Unfortunately it did not help. After
resetting the IE to default security settings, the Outlook 2007 was "hanged"
(not responding).

I had to go to "Task Manager" and force close the application. Tried to run
Outlook again. This time it manage to run up, but still with the "Internet
Explorer Script Error" thingy. The exact pop up error was as follows:

"An error has occured in the scirpt on this page"

Although the errors above is not affecting my usage of mails and task
handling. But it is starting to get on my nerves...I should expect Outlook
(2007) by now must be more user friendly than this after all the various
previous versions...!!!

I tried your suggestion but did not help. (Well, not really since what you
suggested was originally in-place).

That's something new. However, as a newbie, I needed more clearer
instructions. I am surpriced this issue has to do with intranet. Speaking of
that, as a matter of fact, lately our office has been working on installing
the Microsoft Sharepoint services in our office.

Open Internet Explorer. Click Tools>Internet Options. Click the Security
tab. Select the Local Intranet zone and click Sites, then Advanced. In the
"Add this website to the zone: field, enter

about:internet

Click Close, then OK, then OK. When I had the problem you described, this
worked for me.

I have had the same problem with my "Script Error" in line 296. I have
attempted the solutions suggested, but the error message continues. I am as
frustrated as Peter. Any further suggestions?

I also have exactly the same problem, which seems to appear the minute after
installing Microsoft Frontpage 2000 - I don't think this is a concidence -
bearing in mind the way "Outlook-Today" page is designed using html script.

During my unsucccesfull attempts to find a solution in the web, I found that
the cause is a damaged .dll file. Within Outlook, if you right-click
somewhere to the right of "Personal Folder - Outlook Today" and choose
"Properties" and then "Home Page" tab, I was told that the file inside the
"address" field has been damaged.

I don't have a solution to this - hopefully Microsoft will soon - but here
are two alternatives to get around the annoying "script error" message:

Alternative 1:
You can click "Customize Outlook Today" and set Outlook (when launched) to
go straight to your Inbox, instead of to "Outlook Today" page.

Alternative 2:
As mentioned above, open Outlook, and right-click somewhere alongside where
it says "Personal Folders - Outlook Today". Choose "Properties of Outlook
Today", and click "Home Page" tab. Finally, uncheck the box for "Show Home
page by default for this folder". Now when you launch Outlook, you will get a
blank page with the heading "Personal Folders".

Not perfect solutions, I know, but at least until Microsoft or someone can
come up with a solution to repair the "homepage" .dll file, beggars can't be
choosers!!!

What version of outlook, windows, and IE? if they are older versions don't
hold your breath waiting for a fix.

Did you try resetting the folder home page in outlook or using detect and
repair?

Outlook 2007 (activated Trial version - comes pre-installed with my Toshiba
A200 series laptop); Windows Vista Business; and IE7.

Yes, I did try re-setting the Home Page folder, without success, by clicking
the button for "restore defaults" - I presume this is what you meant?

I can't see the option for "detect and repair" under Outlook 2007 (like in
Outlook 2003?).

Can I also add, my Outlook 2007 (Trial) is part of the Microsoft Office
System 2007.

In outlook 2007, Detect and Repair is Office Diagnostics (look on the Help
menu). Yes, restore defaults fixes the error many times - when it doesn't
detect and repair should.

It will work on Vista business - I know because I'm using it. I do have UAC
off and some of the IE security settings are lower than default - not sure
if they make a difference.
