Why is document scanning not working?

I'm attempting to use document scanning in Microsoft Office Tools. I get an
error box - 'Microsoft Document Scanning has encountered a problem and needs
to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience'. All I can do is send the
error report.

I've used this in the past with no problem. What should I do?

Sometimes computer files get corrupted over time or by other files and
installations.

You might try to repair your installation by re-installing Office from your
original installation media.
