Why is French Grammar checker a compulsory upgrade for English us.

Why am I constantly told I need to apply a French grammar checker? I do not
speak French or use it at all. Surely it should be demoted as most English
(or other language) users will not need it.

Do you have "Detect language automatically" (Tools >
Language > Set language > Detect language automatically)
turned on? If so, turn it off and see if that helps.

The English language edition of MS Office XP and 2003
include English, French and Spanish (North American
common languages) proofing tools.

Officeupdates offered are based on the product that
you have rather than just the features you're currently
using so that if you enabled that feature you're already
set and won't have opened a potential security 'hole'
by changing features in-use.
