Why is FrontPage 2003 extremely slow when connecting/publishing?

S

Scenario

I'm publishing to a site with FP Extensions. Occasionally, FP takes FOREVER
to connect to my site, get its list of subwebs, and upload files. Last night
it was working at normal speed. But today (once again), it took 22 minutes to
update a single 5k file. If I make lots of changes, the sync can take
anywhere from 4 to 8 hours(!) and if I try to cancel, it still takes an hour
for FP to become usable again.

My web host company has spent hours trying to track this down. If they
reboot the server, FP works fast again but fust for a little while. They can
find no errors in their logs related to this issue. Last week they even wiped
my site and reinstalled the FP Extensions. I have the current FP 2003 version.

I can use another FTP client at normal speed. So I suspect that with all the
crappy invisible files FP adds to my site to track changes, etc., it is just
getting gummed up and perhaps out of sync with the copies on the server just
thru normal usage on my part.

Anyone else having this trouble or do you know of any solutions? If so,
please send to scenario-at-mac-dot-com. Thanks!

You web host has configuration issues on their server, ask them to move (publish via FP) your site
to another server.
