why is it set to read-only automatically?

Hi all,

I'm using WinXP+Office2003. These days I am editing a very important
document in WORD. So I often send copies to my email box to make backup. But
I find every time I send it, the document will change to read-only
automatically. It's really strange and boring. How can I modify this policy?
