Why is it that the photos I insert are Embedded?

I used to be able to "Insert Picture From File" and actually see my photo.
Now when I perform the same action I can resize my photo but but I cannot see
it!? The Graphics Manager Task pane show all my inserts (photos & clip art
alike) are embedded. I do not want them embedded. How can I stop them from
being embedded?....I don't know why this is happening, it never used
to...could some update have caused this? I use Publisher 3003. THANKS FOR
ANY HELP IN THIS MATTER!

Yes, you do. Otherwise when you send the file to another computer, the
graphics will not appear. The "embedding" is not the issue; even if the
graphics displayed perfectly, Graphics Manager would tell you that they
were embedded.

If I was forced to guess, I'd say that you've recently installed Adobe
Acrobat.

Have a read of the FAQ page at

I've recently "updated" Adobe Reader is all!?

I have lowered my Hardware Accerlation slider down 3 notches as suggested,
(In my "display properties") and I can now view my photos in Publisher, but
I'm uncertain what else could now be at risk from my change!? - Teresa

Any applications that use 3D rendering (especially games and 3D screen
savers) will be the main victims. Read the large text in red; it saves
me rewriting it in this message.
