Why is Microsoft Word Locked? HELP

I tried some web searching but I only get information about documents being
locked. When I go to MS Word and create a new file I cannot type anything.
It is as if it has locked completely. I know when I installed I didn't
register it because I did not have internet at the time. Then when I got
internet it asked me to register but I opted not to at the time. Does that
make a difference? I thought it registering just was for a warranty or
support or something. As soon as I got the internet it's like Word will not
let me type anything. Is this a security measure of some sort? Please help
as I have work to do!!!!

You don't have to register your Office software, but you DO have to
activate it. Start Word, click on Help | Activate Product, and follow
the instructions on the screen. See
