Why is MS Word always staying on top?

My MS Word (Office 2003) is now "always on top" of other windows. Why? I
cannot find how to change that. Very annoying. I have to iconize to see
underneath.

I don't suppose this really helps but I have noticed occasionally when
running several applications at once (Win XP Pro with combinations of,
perhaps, Office 2k3, Firefox with several tabs open, and maybe some fairly
standard apps (e.g. WMP, Winzip, SnagIt) - nothing out of the ordinary but
usually probably stretching resources) that switching windows doesn't seem
to work properly and I have to explicitly minimise or switch to desktop or
sometimes close some applications to free it. It only happens after I have
been away from the screen and the screen has switched off and I bring it
back to life by moving the mouse. I have no idea of the cause but it's only
an occasional minor annoyance.
