Why is my handwritten text in OneNote disappearing?

I have about two weeks of class notes in a OneNote notebook. A new problem
started up yesterday. Whenever I write in my OneNote notebook, the text
disappears.

I have a Tablet PC. It's the Tablet PC. I apologize for the brevity of the
original post. I wrote it while in class using the Tablet Input Panel.

This particular notebook is 100 MB. The summary says that it has 42 files.
I get the disappearing ink problem in various folders of the notebook. It
only happens with new handwritten text in OneNote. Other note-taking
programs work fine.

Here's a better description of the problem as I noted it in my blog:
"The disappearing ink problem. This started yesterday after an hour of
writing into a OneNote notebook. I started a new page. All words that I wrote
would stay on the screen for a few seconds, during which time I assume they
were being processed for recognition. After this, they’d disappear."

Of course, now that I'm home and docked, everything is working fine. I'll
have to wait for the problem to come back.

Here's additional info:

* I have an HP TC1100.

* It's not just words that disappear. If I make simple strokes, they
disappear too. If I write in an asian language, the strokes of the
characters disappear in the order that I wrote them as if they're being
parsed for recognition while the "ink" is drying.

* When this happens I don't see the shaded "show ink groups" area, even
though I have that feature turned on.

* The last time I had the problem, I had opened and closed several programs
open, including Outlook, Thunderbird, Gobinder, Media Player, Adobe Reader,
and few IE windows. Closing all other applications didn't solve the problem.

* The problem goes away after I reboot. (When things go well, I use standby
and reboot roughly once a week.)

See the thread started by "Leetek". Are you by chance clicking on the
"Use Pen as Pointer" button?

This was exactly it! I wish I knew just what to search for the first time. It
looks like others had this "problem" too.

Thanks!
