Why is my page great in Print Preview, but messed up in Webview?

I created some great webpages in MS Publisher and they look perfect in the
Print Preview. But when I look at them under the >Preview your Web site...<
option, words are cut off, pictures and text boxes are overlapping, things
are no longer centered or even missing. How can I fix that?

I think your question is probably also your answer, in a way. I suspect that
most of the problems are associated with "print" design techniques you used,
not translating to "web" view. Things such as word wrap - wrapping text
around your images, work fine in print but chokes Publisher when you convert
the publication to HTML for the web. There are many things you can do in a
print formatted document that you can't do in a Publisher web page.

Since it sounds like you have an assortment of these print vs. web
conflicts, please post the URL of the page with the problems, and describe
specifically what the problems are. If we can see the page it will be easier
to suggest solutions.

I tried to get it to go >online< yesterday, but neither the instructions from
my internet provider nor the help menue.
The instructions from the internet provider are:
Create an HTML document containing your information. There are many HTML
editors which will assist you in developing your page. Be sure to name the
first page index.html.
Connect to Windstream's server as you normally would to access e-mail or web
services.
Use an FTP program to connect to Windstream's server. If you do not have an
FTP program you can download FTP Voyager from the link to the right. Download
FTP Voyager
Type in host home.windstream.net.
Type in your login name (i.e., johndoe) as user.
Type in your password.

Once you are connected, change the remote directory to home_page.
Copy your HTML documents and any graphical files you referenced to the new
directory.
Be sure to disconnect from the server using your FTP software.
Your web page address will be http://home.windstream.net/your_login.

In the example above, it would be http://home.windstream.net/johndoe.

So I went to File, Publish to the Web and followed the Instructions from the
help menue. But for one, it didn't offer the option to safe it as .htlm and
than it was also missing steps included in the instructions from the help
menue. It never asked for a host, password and all that.

I assume that you already changed your design and are not using word wrap,
which was at least one of your original problems? Did you run the design
checker under tools?

I am also going to assume that you are using Pub 2003. As to uploading your
html files, when you Publish to the Web you will generate an index.htm file
which is basically the same as an index.html file... .htm is equivalent to
..html in your situation. You will also get an index_files folder along with
the index.htm file, and you will want to upload both.

Unless you are using forms on your website you can use FTP uploading
protocol. If you are using forms HTTP uploading will be required. There is
also a troubleshooting article.

And finally, some people find using a third party FTP program easier.
