Why is my "Save in" drop down menu so slow to respond?

When I try to change directories to save a document in Word, Excel, or
Access, it takes 25 to 30 seconds for the drop down menu that shows me the
available folders to appear. If I click on a folder, it takes another 25 to
30 seconds to open that folder. If I should change my mind again to select a
different folder, it could take me as much as 1 1/2 minutes to save a file.
Yesterday, when I was saving a file to two different folders, it took me
about 3 minutes.

My office applications did not always behave this way.

None of my other applications suffer from this problem.

Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop,
left-click on Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect any mapped
drives that are not currently available.

Thank you. It looks like you hit the nail on the head. Someone seems to
have taken a computer off the network but my applications were still looking
for it. Is that what was happening? And only Office apps do this kind of
search?

As with many users, i was having the same problem. Thanks for the "fix". Does
anybody know why this issue only affects MS OFFICE APPS and no other?
