Why is Office 2004 so much slower that previous versions? Is is something
in the set up or is this a problem inherent to the release?

Hi Geoff,

Most things are about the same or faster. One or two things out of the tens
of thousands of possibilities are slightly slower.

Was there something in particular you had noticed?

Jim, thanks for the quick response.

In PowerPoint. For example:
* displaying in slide sorter view takes forever to load the display
* dragging to select text
* deleting character by character
* moving text and graphic boxes on a slide in edit mode

Hi again,

On my 500mhz TiBook only one of the things you mention seems to apply at
all. Displaying a presentation with 150 slides with 1 picture per slide in
slide sorter view can take a moment. If the slides were more complex it
would take longer since each slide has to be drawn completely. The only way
around that one is a faster computer.

None of the other problems you mention appear on my TiBook at all, and it is
not a powerhouse with lots of video RAM. If you have more horsepower than
this and you are experiencing problems I think it¹s time to start doing some
system troubleshooting.
