Why is options greyed out under tools in Word 2003

I'm not sure what is going on but options and customize under tools is greyed
out and also the save button on the toolbar is greyed out. The Permission
setting under file is set to "unrestricted access". Does anyone know what is
going on?

Assuming that Word has been correctly activated, see

Thank you - I believe it has been correctly activated, and I tried the first
fix, but it did not help. When I sign into the computer as another user,
everything is fine. The problem only occurs under one particular user's
name.

Do you have any other ideas?

Try renaming normal.dot, with Word closed, for the affected user. If that
doesn't help, you may have to recreate the user profile in Windows.
