Why is Outlook.pst stored as Outlook.nk2?

Data File Management shows my Outlook.pst file should be in the default
location, "C:\Documents and Settings\Ken\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook", but it isn't there. There is an Outlook.nk2 file
there.

I'm trying to run the Inbox Repair tool because archiving isn't working and
that was suggested, but it doesn't work on the Outlook.nk2.

I find an Outlook.pst file on another drive, but don't know if it's the
active one. Would Outlook save to a different location than the Data File
Management setting indicates?

Open Outlook, right-click on Outlook Today in the Folders pane, choose
Properties, click on Advanced and it will tell you the location of your pst
file. And no, the Outlook.nk2 file is NOT it.
Have you enabled Hidden and System Files in your Folders View in Windows
Explorer?

Hidden and system files has to be enabled to be able to see the NK2 file.
FYI, the PST file can be located literally anywhere your computer can
access.

The NK2 file stores autocomplete information.

Nope. System files have nothing to do with it and, even with hidden files
enabled, you can enter "%AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook" into the Address field
of Windows Explorer, click Go, and see it.
