Why is Outlook telling me I'm not online when I am?

When I try to connect to Outlook 2007 it states that "the connection to
Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must me online or connectred to
compelter this action". The problem is that I am online when trying to
connect to Outlook. It will not let me go in and change the settings it only
closes the Outlook suite. What can I do? I would really like to use this
feature. I am using Windows XP.

Well, do you actually use Exchange as your e-mail server?

No, Outlook loads whether you are online or offline. You don't connect to
Outlook. You load it.

If you don't use Exchange then don't create an e-mail account for it. Use
the Mail applet in Control Panel to delete the Exchange account.

That would be e-mail?

Okay, but do YOU actually connect to an Exchange mail server? Just WHO is
your ESP (e-mail service provider)? It appears you defined an invalid
e-mail account in Outlook.

Do you even have an e-mail account defined within Outlook? If not, just
where did you expect it to connect?
