Why is the French language update being recommended for my Americ.

I do not use the French language, and I am wondering why this is being
recommended as an update.

Because U.S.-English versions of Office XP and Office 2003 include
Spanish and French proofing tools (spelling check, grammar check, and
thesaurus).
