Why is there a 1% difference in CV% value displayed in a summary task?

Why is there a 1% difference in CV% value displayed in a summary task
than the result of the formula MS Project 2003 uses to calculate it.

This is a quote from the help text. "CV% is the percentage of the cost
variance (CV) divided by BCWP (budgeted cost of work performed). MS
Project 2003 calculates the CV% for a task as follows:

CV% = [ (BCWP - ACWP) / BCWP ] * 100"

I created a small project with two tasks under a summary task. One task
completed with no cost variance and the other and a -$500.00 cost
variance (over budget by $500.00). MS Calculated the CV% for each
individual task but it displays -9% at the summary level. Bases on the
calculation below shouldn't is display the CV% as -10%?

For Example: for BCWP = $5,000.00, ACWP = $5,500.00

CV% = [ (BCWP - ACWP) / BCWP ] * 100
CV% = [ (5,000.00 - 5,500.00) / 5,0000.00 ] * 100
CV% = (-500 / 5,000) * 100
CV% = -0.1 * 100
CV% = -10

MS Project 2003 displays -9% The only time I was able to get the
correct result is when the CV% was 0% or (+/- )50%.
