Why is there no original Courier font in Office 2003?

When I upgraded my Office XP installation to Office 2003 on both of my
machines, I can no longer use the original Courier font. Only Courier New is
available, even though Courier can still be used in other applications. Why
is this and can it be fixed?

This does not solve the problem. First of all, the font that I listed which
I am looking to use, Courier, is not on the list of no longer supported fonts
that you sent me so it is not even an issue for Word 97. On top of that, I
have used Courier many times in Office XP and Office 2000. It was only when
I recently upgraded to Office 2003 that I lost the use of Courier even though
it is still on my computer. Please advise how this can be fixed.

Courier is not a TrueType font. It is installed on many systems as a display
font (which Word will not use). It may also have been a resident font in
some printer that you have used.

Courier is included with the HP printers I have. It is not a part of Windows
or Word, though. It is heavier than Courier New (and I suspect uses more
toner/ink).
