why is WORD 2000 showing format information in the document

When I open a document in Word selecting the file from the files as listed in
the directory, it opens as follows:

When I open it from Explorer or the drop down recent opened menu it opens as
follows:
Tresting I can’t spell

Why is it appearing as shown above when I open it via OPEN and selecting it?

Hi, Alynn. In Word, click on File | Open. If the "Files of type" option
is "Recover text from any file", change it to something else (such as "All
Word documents" or "All files").
