Why Junk mail selected gets line-through but remains in 'inbox' li

I selected an 'unsolicited' email message from incoming list, it then being
'highlighted', I selected the Junk Mail Option, I selected to 'BAN' that
domain,
the 'Subject' for the email then became 'lined-through' and remains in the
'incoming inbox list.
Should it not be put into the 'Trash'?

Is your email account an IMAP account? It sounds like it is and when
the message is being moved to the trash it is being deleted from your
inbox hence there is a line through it. In IMAP terms it is marked for
deletion.

Click on your inbox for the account in question then choose View ->
Current View -> Hide Messages Marked for Deletion and the messages with
strike through will disappear from view.
