I have a large PowerPoint file created on a PC. It was saved to CD by
Pack and Go (a program within PowerPoint which stuffs the files as a
".exe" file). I know my Mac won't open .exe files so How can I save
this presentation on my PC to transfer to the Mac. It a very large
presentation with music flies, sound effects, etc... Why don't Mac's
need a stuffing program for large PP presentations?

Thanks!!

Pack and Go doesn't so much compress the PPT file as it combines some linked
files, the PPT and optionally a PC viewer into one installer file the user
can launch easily.

You could just transfer the PPT and all the needed sound files to your Mac
on CD. You'll probably have to relink the sounds/movies, as the links will
likely break.

Hi Chad,

There are several issues that you should consider when saving PowerPoint
files for cross-platform use. If you simply peruse the headings of postings
in this newsgroup you'll find some excellent suggestions.

Here's a place to start:
pointx&type=tips&article=/mac/LIBRARY/tips_tricks/officex/pp_crossplatformti
p.xml>

Check the MVP web sites for tips about how to save the presentation so the
links won't break (use a single folder and then link the presentation to the
objects within the folder at the same directory level).

You should test your methods on Mac before distributing the CDs. If you run
into troubles just post on the newsgrouop the step-by-step methods you're
using, the versions and OS you're running, and what the specific troubles
are.
