In Entourage some of my folders have been bolded. There seems to be no patter or logic to it and I have no idea how to unbold them. Any ideas? thanks!

It's telling you there is unread mail in that folder or in a subfolder.

Diane, that seems odd, as I move a lot of email to folders, and those folders I'm moving to are bolded, lots of them. By definition, if I moved it there, I saw the e mail and wanted it saved.

Was the folder bold before? Was the message marked as read when you moved
it?

And do you have "Mark messages as read when displayed in the Preview Pane"
checked? If not, then just viewing the message and moving it will not mark
it as read.

Diane, sorry, you were right.

Ed, where in prefs to you see mark messages as read?

And how can I turn off this behavior of the having folders go bold becuase an e mail was not read? thanks

Preferences --> Read --> you can try setting for 0 seconds

You can't just turn it off. If the above doesn't work, you could do that
with a rule.

A custom view of "mail received today" could be marked as read easily, but
how are you going to know what you need to read?
