Why spell checker do not find all known errors w/grammar & style?

Using Mircosoft Office Word 2003 - I use the tools spelling and grammar
checking along with, and check grammar and style activated.

The results of the checking may find some errors in the document and make
the necessary corrections; however I see known grammar and style errors
still in the document. Nevertheless the spell checker confirms the
completion of grammar and spell checking as being correct.

But not all known errors were recognied or corrected, recheck yield the same
results.

Example: the was a sentence that begain with a small letter, along with
other errors, was passed over as being correct, no errors found.

Under Tools>Options>Spelling&Grammar>Settings is "Capitalization" checked,
etc? If not, there's your answer.

If it is checked, look under
Tools>AutoCorrectOptions>AutoCorrect>Exceptions>"Don't Capitalize after..".
Is there an entry that might explain the behaviour you describe? (I'm not
100% sure this exception list affects Grammar checker, but I suspect they
are interrelated.)

HTH,
