Why the 2 New Security Popups with SP3 Upgrade??!!

B

Brent Ransom

I am extremely irritated by the two new security-related
popup messages that come with every email I receive now,
after upgrading Outlook 2002 with the SP3 upgrade. The
Help offered is too basic and tells you nothing about
what is really going on.

Msg: A program is trying to access email addresses you
have stored in Outlook. Do you want to allow this?
(choices:) Yes...No...Help.

You have to click either Yes or No to continue using
Outlook. After clicking your answer, the same msg pops
up again, and you have to click it again, to continue.
So if you receive 25 emails, you have to manually click
this thing 50 times...a drastic irritation!! It is also a
waste of time, since it happens with every email.

Does anyone have a clue of what is going on here, and
better yet how to turn it off??? THANKS FOR ANY HELP!!

Outlook 2002 SP3 adds additional properties to the list of those that are
affected by the security features. As a result, one of your add-ins needs
updated to the latest version - antispam add-ins are a common cause
although others are affected by the changes as well. Many add-ins were
updated following the release of Outlook 2003 and should work with SP3, if
not you'll need to contact the vendor for a newer version.

http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2002sp3.htm#problems has a list of
applications known to trigger the warning.
