Why the Chinese IME will automatically pop up when entering data?

Hello,

I'm using Traditional Chinese Windows 98 and Chinese Access 97. Whenever I
am in any of the table, be it in the design mode or in the table mode, the
Chinese IME will automatically pop up (it only does not happen under the
automatic numbering column). As I actually deal with data in English only, I
find this very annoying.

Any way to change this behaviour of Access?
