Why upgrade to Service Pak 1 from Service Pak 2?

Office Updates indicated that I need to upgrade to Service Pak 1. My PC was
shipped with Service Pak 1 and not too long ago, it was recommended I upgrade
to Service Pak 2, which has all of the new security features. Am I to now go
back to Service Pak 1?

Nope - you're confusing Windows and Office service packs. The latest service
pack for WinXP is SP2. The latest service pack for Office 2003 is SP1. They
don't match. You do want everything patched fully - WinXP should be on SP2
and all other critical updates.

Go to Windows Update & click on Office Updates - you can scan &
automatically install. For Office, you may need to have your installation
media handy...you might be prompted to insert it.

Service Pack 1 for MICROSOFT OFFICE has NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with the
installation of Service Pack 1 or 2 for WINDOWS XP, the OPERATING SYSTEM..

...and yes, upper case is regarding as shouting in usenet.. I felt the need
to highlight some aspects of this message.. you really must learn to read
all of a words in a statement..
