Why use Redirect

This seems like the most basic question.

Why would I want to take an e-mail in my inbox (from someone else) and redirect it. I understand forwarding it but redirecting sends it to the same people from the original person. I don't see the difference.

I use resend all the time.

Please help.

Thanks

if you redirect, it looks like the e-mail is send by the original
sender. If you hit reply, it replies to the original sender.
If you forward, the e-mail usually gets the content modified (eg: in
quotes) and the From field indicates your name instead of the original
sender.

Redirect is very useful. It makes the message look like it came from the
original sender (not so much so that someone can¹t really tell, but enough
so it you won¹t be bothered with replies). In some ways, it is slightly
dishonest, but I find it particularly helpful to avoid the recipient
replying to me. Imagine that someone sends me an email that really should go
to someone else. If I forward it, and the recipient is not the most
tech-savvy or with it (or is just having a bad day), and that person
replies. I get the reply and am now stuck playing man-in-the-middle with all
these emails that weren¹t intended for me in the first place. If I redirect,
the replies go to the original sender and I¹m out of it (for now).

Thanks Corentin. I know the difference my question is why use redirect. Why would I want to send someone else's e-mail (from them).

Well let’s say, when an e-mail was sent to you by mistake or when you
need someone else to reply back,

Exactly. In my company I am listed in our address book as "Smith,
William". We also have a "Smith, Bill". Needless to say, we're getting
each others messages sometimes. I use Redirect to get it back to the
right person. The message he receives does display that it has been
redirected from me, but otherwise, it appears for all intents and
purposes to be from the original sender and not me. I'm not involved in
their conversation and Redirect gets me out of the loop.

Redirect is also a cheap way of forwarding HTML emails without
Entourage destroying them.
