Why won't hot links in emails work?

Recently hyperlinks in emails stopped opening up the desired web page.
Instead, clicking on any link in an email will simply start Internet
Explorer, opening up the home page. How can I reset so the link goes to the
desired page again?

Go into IE's tools, internet options and reset the web settings - it should
be on the programs tab.
