Why won't my calendar save appointments?

I have Office 2003. Recently, none of the appointments I have attempted to
input are being saved. Appointments from my Pcket PC will not sync due to
error 80004004. Reinstalling the software usually works, but it is time
consuming. I have a subfolder calender. There is no problem there, however
my pocket pc will not sync with the personal calendar created.
