why won't my control copy work?

when i highlight text and do a control copy command, it doesn't copy!! the
edit--> copy works but i'd really like the command to....
Help!!

Are you using the Ctrl+C shortcut? You can check to see whether the shortcut
has been reassigned. Open Tools | Customize and click Keyboard... For any
command at random, enter Ctrl+C as the shortcut. Word should tell you what
command the shortcut is currently assigned to. If it's anything other than
EditCopy, find that command and remove the assignment.
