why won't my text box print?

I have a document with pictures and captions in text boxes, so that they
sit in the right place on the page.

All of it prints well EXCEPT for one text box.

On-screen, there's a caption in there. On paper, it's blank. I've
output it to two different printers (via different drivers) without success.

The text is not set to "hidden".

Any ideas?

I fear that I'm about to miss a deadline over this... and it's Word 2002.

check that the "fill" colour for the text box is blank, no colour
i found this prevented mine printing properly a long time ago.

make the text box bigger, so you can be sure the text isn't obscured by
the box.

have you checked it in print preview?

Thanks for the suggestions, but the fill colour was right, and it
appeared ok in print preview.

It'd be good to know what made this text box different from all the
others that I'd inserted using exactly the same means... maybe it
became jinxed when Word decided to shuffle them all around during one of
its efforts to re-flow the text. Whoever wrote the algorithms for that
didn't do a good job at all.

I eventually decided to delete the offending text box and fill a new one
with the old contents, and that printed without problems. Wish that I'd
done that earlier instead of trying to fix what didn't work! Better
still, I should have thought ahead and done this particular job in
Pagemaker.

It's always a hard job choosing between Word and Pagemaker, one raises
hell with graphics and text boxes, and the other raises hell with
footnotes.
