Why won't PPT 2003 keep the font size I define?

I higlight some text and define a size so it will fit on the page and save it
and when I come back in to the same file some of the font sizes are back to
what they were before I changed them? They are like size 32 and the text runs
off the bottom of the page. Some pages do that and some do not Why?

Ok I figured it out. The Master Slide Layout had the font size defned for
that level of bullet. What I want to know is why won't it allow me to change
some slides or pieces of text and keep that change. It should allow the user
to over ride any portion of the text without having to change the entire
Master. Or why can't we change the text box size and have the text
automatically get bigger or smaller depending?
