Why won't the save as dialogue box display when Outlook is open?

When a word document attachment to an email is opened, upon trying to save it
from word, the save as dialogue box remains hidden and the blue bar across
the top of the window flashes light to dark AND the item in the task bar
flashes blue to orange. What's happened to cause this behavior and more
especially how is it fixed?

Disable the Office Plugin that comes with Symantec/Norton AntiVirus. See
