Why won't themes work in Software stencils?

I'm testing out Visio2007 for use as a UI design tool. I'm trying to apply a
monochromatic theme to my UIs, but nothing is changing (e.g. border of a UI
Window selected from the Software stencil set is not changing color based on
the selected theme.

Is there some trick I'm missing? Or are themes not fully supported within
that stencil set?

No trick, not all stencils support themes. Hopefully that will be remedied
in the next version.
