why Word don't record the changes I applied to tool bars ?

In my Office 2003, when I apply some changes to Word toolbars, this change,
leaving Word, is not recorded, so that when I re-open Word, I do not find my
previous toolbar customization. Note that Normal.dot does not create at all
and I did not find this file in any directory of my PC, neither before nor
after Word runnig. This problem is not present in Excel, that work regularly
and keep toolbar changes.

From the FAQ:

28. I can't save my customizations - AutoText, menus, etc.
Can't save normal.dot...
If you have Adobe Acrobat 7 installed see the last section of
http://www.gmayor.com/lose_that_adobe_acrobat_toolbar.htm.
Otherwise, hold down the Shift key when selecting the File
menu and select Save All.

Hope this helps,

Is Adobe Acrobat 7.0 installed on the computer? If yes, then the
Acrobat 7.0 Create Adobe PDF toolbar add-in for Word prevents
Word from automatically saving changes to the normal.dot template
(which is where toolbar customizations are stored). See
http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/331259.html for several
solutions to the problem.

Thanks very much, Charles. I became crazy, because I need a heavy toolbars customization so that the problem described above was, for me, a serious damage. I believe users' community is more, more powerful than all sw producer (Adobe, Microsoft (sorry, my host) etc ...),. Bye bye from Rome (Italy) Marcello
